Gina Swainson from Bermuda was the winner of Miss World 1979 contest representing United Kingdom. This was the 29th Miss world Pageant that was organized on 15th November, 1979 at the Royal Albert Hall, London, United Kingdom.

Gina Swainson was only at the age of 21 years old when she became titleholder of Miss World 1979. A big parade arranged in her honor when she returned. In history, Gina Swainson was the only Bermudian who won the most important title of Miss World 1979. Moreover Gina also won the 2nd title of Miss Universe 1979 pageant contest that was held in Australia. One noticeable thing that stage was collapsed almost immediately after the winner was crowned therefore in resulting, few participants were injured.

Gina was born in 1958 in Bermuda. Near the beginning of 1990 she got married with Port o’ Call restaurant Maitre d’ Mr. Peter Jovetic and get new identity as Gina Swainson-Jovetic. Later she created her own new business-“Gina of Bermuda” for selling a variety of makeup in Emporium Building in front street, Hamilton.

Gina Swainson became a winner by beating 69 worldwide beauty contestants and got $10,750 as prize money and also guaranteed $32,250 for a contract of one year’s work.

1978 Miss World Silvana Suarez

Silvana Rosa Suarez became a winner of Miss World 1978, the 28th Miss World Pageant contest which was held on 16th November, 1978 at the Royal Albert Hall, London, United Kingdom. Silvana was representing Argentina and was the second woman who became the title holder of Miss World from her country.

Silvana Suarez was born on 29th September, 1958, Cordoba, Argentina. Cordoba is the birthplace of Silvana who lived here in Argentinean city for 20 years. To attend University, Cordoba is considered as one of the finest places in South America.

Silvana got the highest grade at her Yoga school, as she practiced Yoga from the age of only eleven. Silvana learned at the Domingo Zipoli institute, a school that is specialized in music for 13 years. At the age of 17, she completed her graduation as a Music Teacher and also Director. Then further she studied about Architecture at the National University of Córdoba for 3 years.

Silvana Suarez’s parents were good plastic artists (as muralists and sculptors), also gold medal winners. They also provide the teaching at the Cordoba University. Silvana’s mother specialized in murals and father was the winner of several national contests and more over uncovered his effort in Europe.

She married with a businessman and a journalist with whom she had worked as a journalist. She had two children. For 10 years, she had performed her responsibility as Vice President of Ambito Financiero and also as photographer for the newspaper. A section for women and fashion was created by Silvana.

1977 Miss World Mary Stavin

Mary Ann-Catrin Stavin won the crown of Miss World 1977, representing Sweden. It was the 27th Miss World beauty pageant contest that was held on 17th November, 1977 at Royal Albert Hall, London, UK. When she became Miss World, she was only 20 years old.

Mary Stavin was born on 20th August, 1957 in Örebro, Sweden. She is model, actress and early Miss World.

Stavin married with Nicholas Wilcockson-a British businessman with whom she lives in Beverly Hills, California. She has a cute baby Liliana and eight nephews and nieces. Their names are Dominic, Nathalie, Emily, Benjamin, Alexander, Misha, George and Luka.

Mary Stavin had performed a little role as Tanya’s Character, movie “House which starred William Katt” in 1986. She had performed a nice role as “Octopussy girl” in James Bond movie “Octopussy” which was released in 1983 and then after in 1985 a movie “A View to a Kill”. More than acting, an exercise album- “Shape Up and Dance” was released by her with George Best.

Mary is residing in Los Angles now-a-days.

1976 Miss World Cindy Breakspeare

Cindy Breakspeare, her famed name but her actual name is Cynthia Jean Cameron Breakspeare who became the winner of Miss World 1976 and got the crown, representing Jamaica. It was the 26th Miss World Beauty pageant contest that was organized on 18th November, 1976, at the Royal Albert Hall, London, UK.

Breakspeare was born n 24th October, 1954 in Toronto, Canada. She was a daughter of to a Louis Breakspeare and Marguerite Cochrane but her father was Jamaican and mother was Canadian. She is not only a Jamaican jazz musician but also early model; moreover she is Grammy-winning reggae musician Damian Marley’s mother.

Cindy Breakspeare is only one sister of 2 brothers by name John Spence and Steven Breakspeare. She was only 4 years old when she moved to Jamaica. She started her career at very teenage by participating in beauty pageants. She participated in Miss Universe Bikini and Miss Jamaica Body Beautiful. Later she was invited to take part in competition of Miss World 1976. As her determination was so strong, she went to London and became the titleholder and she was second woman who won the title of Miss World from her Country Jamaica.

She became a mother of a cute boy named Damian Marley in 1978. Bob Marley who was Damian Marley’s father wrote the song "Turn Your Lights Down Low" about his relationship with Cindy Breakspeare.

Later in 1981, Cindy Breakspeare married with senator and attorney-at-law Tom Tavares-Finson. They blessed with a son Christian in 1982 and a daughter Leah in 1986. But in 1995 they both took divorced and separated from each other. Her son Christian attends law school in the UK and her daughter Leah attends university in Canada.
